Bialowieza Primaeval Forest
Th Estimated number of wolves in eastern part of Poland varies between 700 and 1000. Wolves are very shy animals and therefore we cannot guarantee watching them, yet spending more time in the fields means greater chance. We will, however, meet elks, red deer, weasels, boars, probably otters and definitely many bird species such as: woodpeckers, birds of prey, and owls. Landscape of Biebrza Marshes in winter is limitless. Everything is calm and snow cover is up to one meter. After sunset howl of wolves is the only voice to be heard around. Winter is also a good time to get close to elks. At this time elks leave marshes and approach the river bank valley. You should include Bialowieza National Park in your plans in January or February in order to give yourself a chance of seeing free-living European bisons. With our guide watching big pack of European bisons, in the heart of the Primaeval Forest, is 100% sure. Hint: Be prepared for cold weather, good boots are essential.
